Welding

What is welding used for?
Welding is a common process used in heavy-duty and commercial vehicle repair. It is a fabrication process in which two or more components are fused together using heat, pressure, or both. Once the materials cool, they form a strong, permanent bond capable of withstanding demanding workloads. The parts being joined are called parent materials, while the material used to bond them together is known as filler or consumable. These materials are typically metals and alloys designed for heavy-duty applications.
This type of repair is widely used to restore structural strength and functionality in heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles. Whether components are cracked, bent, worn, or damaged from impact, welding provides an effective and reliable repair solution. The controlled heat and pressure allow our Expert technicians to precisely target damaged areas, ensuring durability and safety. Our technicians are highly trained and experienced in heavy-duty welding applications, ensuring repairs meet industry standards.
There are three types of welding commonly used by our Quality technicians. They include:
- Arc welding: Arc welding uses an electrical arc to melt and fuse metal components together. Once cooled, the joint becomes extremely strong, making this method well suited for thick or weathered metals commonly found in heavy-duty vehicles.
- MIG welding: MIG (metal inert gas) welding feeds a metal filler wire through a welding gun, which melts and bonds the parent materials together under a protective gas shield. This is one of the most common welding methods used in heavy-duty repair due to its strength, efficiency, and precision.
- TIG welding: TIG (tungsten inert gas) welding uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to create the welding arc, along with a filler material and gas shield. This method allows for precise, high-quality welds and is often used on specialized components or thinner materials requiring detailed work.
